The Job will be based working on incidents that come in to the control room which have markers for mental health issues. You will review these jobs, advice and if needed deploy to them. You will assess these people where they are in the community and divert them to appropriate services along the crisis pathways and other mental health teams pending on their needs.

You will be expected to complete assessment's and risk assessments and at times you will be required to complete safety plans for people known to services i.e regular service users.

You will be expected to attend incidents with officers in an emergency and be able to advice and divert accordingly.

The service is to ensure anyone with MH issues receives the right care at the time they are in crisis. It is to divert people to appropriate services and allow police to leave the scene and get on with their day to day job. It is also to ensure that the number of section 136 detentions are appropriate.

We have an exciting opportunity for Band 6 mental health professionals to work as an integrated part of the crisis care pathway. The street triage and police liaison services sit within our busy crisis pathway. The pathway incorporates the Acute Liaison Teams at the general hospitals, our Crisis Café work, and Police Custody. This post will be predominantly based on the Street Triage and Force Control Room team but you may be asked to work some of your shifts across the pathway as appropriate.

The work in the force control room focuses on offering triage, advice and liaison to police officers at incidents where there are mental health concerns. It may also be necessary for you to attend incidents where officers are present to support the delivery of improved mental health pathways and specialist mental health assessment.

Following triage to advise police on appropriate pathways, management strategies and care needs. If required provide nursing assessment at community incidents. It may be that referrals will be made to outside agencies following these contacts and police will require support to access NHFT pathways as appropriate. This role will include the practical management of incidents that involve potential arrest under section 136 of the mental health act and also arrangements regarding section 135 management.

The team is a very small team and you will be working along side another member of staff where your shifts will overlap. The team are very friendly and helpful and will make you feel welcome. They all work shifts and are very flexible to each others needs. They work 3 long days and tend to work extra days on the bank.

The applicant will be based in the Force Control room and during the evening will be required to work from The Nab (police station ) Kettering and Weston Favell in Northamptonshire. This resource will cover the county with help from their colleague in the Force Control room.

The applicant will have to have good communication skills, goos ineraction skills and should be able to build good working relationships with both the staff in the control room and in the Trust.

You will work closely with The MH hub based in Rushden and also the Urgent Care and assessment team and the Acute liaison team at times.

The street Triage Mental Health car support will involve supporting Police Officers regarding access to SystmOne, advice and attending incidents involving a person presenting with suicidal/concerning behaviour that may be linked to a mental health issue. You would be teamed up with an officer to provide an urgent response to individuals in contact with the police who have mental health concerns.

The role will be based predominately around the street triage car rota which will cover shifts between 10am till 3am 7 days a week. As the service develops it may be that shifts are extended further into the night and there may be the need for night work in other areas of the pathway.
