Trainee ACP band 7

We are looking to recruit two trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to work within acute medicine including same day emergency care. This will be at a band 7 rising to 8a once qualification complete.

We are looking for clinicians with acute medical experience to join our small but expanding ACP team who can help develop our service in the future. You must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of healthcare professionals, be enthusiastic and committed to making a difference and improve practice through ongoing personal and professional development.

You will become responsible for delivering high standards of care using advanced autonomous clinical skills, offering support to both our nursing and junior medical colleagues. You will be expected to complete an MSc in Advanced Practice & Non
- Medical Prescribing certification.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

PRIMARY DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Clinical Practice
1. Assess, differentially diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate individual treatment interventions for patients by virtue of expert clinical judgement and close liaison with members of the MDT.
2. Use expertise and decision-making skills to inform clinical reasoning approaches when dealing with differentiated and undifferentiated individual presentations and complex situations, synthesising information from multiple sources to make appropriate, evidence-based judgements and/or diagnoses.
3. Initiate, evaluate and modify a range of interventions which may include prescribing medicines, therapies, lifestyle advice and care.
4. Exercise professional judgement to manage risk appropriately, especially where there may be complex and unpredictable events and supporting teams to do likewise to ensure safety of individuals, families and carers.
5. Ensure compliance with their respective code of professional conduct and work within their scope of practice.
6. Works in conjunction with the MDT to clearly define values, direction and policies impacting upon care.
7. Work in partnership with individuals, families and carers, using a range of assessment methods as appropriate.

**Job Purpose**:

- To successfully complete the Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) Degree MSc (Level 7) Apprenticeship programme in line with the trust framework for advanced practice and their primary professional regulatory body, with the expectation that on successful completion the post holder will move into a qualified ACP role at band 8a.

The post holder will be working towards fulfilling the expectations and core capabilities of an ACP as set out in the Multi-professional framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England (HEE, 2017) the UHP Trust Framework for Advanced Practice and the Trust ACP Job Description.
