**Job description**:

- The Senior User Researcher plays a key role within the Chief Information Office (CIO) in helping us to understand our customers and their relationship with the products and services we provide. Situated within the Customer Support Services Team and reporting to the Lead Business Analyst, this role requires experience and skills in planning and conducting user research activities, articulating clear findings and utilising user centered and agile methodologies to drive the identification of business needs and to influence and test designs. Clear management and leadership skills shall need to be demonstrated.**Person specification**:

- Provide leadership and mentoring for the User Research team encouraging skill and capability development of team members which allows them to work with mínimal supervision and direction in order to deliver DIO outcomes.
- Working with the Lead Business Analyst and Relationship Manager as well as Senior Business Analysis colleagues, promote the use of User Researchers as part of a multi-disciplinary team and cultivate strong working relationships across DIO.
- Work with project and service leads to understand and define research questions and select appropriate User Research tools, techniques and approaches based on your knowledge and experience.
- Identify best practice and embed appropriate User Research techniques and standards in order to support consistency of outputs across the User Research team.
- Identify opportunities across CIO and the wider organisation to utilise User Research techniques and approaches in order to drive decisions against business problems or goals.
- Understand and articulate how the user experience needs of end users can be used to influence design of a solution or service and be capable of recommending and implementing a range of techniques that can analyse user experience and ensure customer needs are met by the end solution.
- Provide advice and support during design phases, to develop a shared understanding of the users and their needs of a user interface, by using the personas to inform the design.
- Coordinate the planning, preparation and execution of Usability evaluation through creation of usability evaluation scenarios and prototypes and ensure capture of usability defects; managing their timely resolution in order to achieve usability sign off
- Through interactions and forums you will promote the benefit and adoption of User Research and User Centred Design approaches and engage sceptical colleagues and stakeholders.
- Build long-term collaborative working relationships with internal and external colleagues, seeking feedback and iterative ideas for continuous improvement.
