Join our Highways team as **Head of Communications** on our Connect Plus Services joint venture project and you’ll help make this happen

This is a 12 month fixed term contract.

**What you'll be doing**
The role purpose is to deliver and develop the business’ communications strategy, ensuring all communications activity is strategic, considered, and aligns with our corporate messaging and values.

The role will also see you effectively manage and guide our core communications functions to enhance employee engagement, customer experience, stakeholder perception and the overall reputation of the M25.

The scope of this role includes, but is not limited to, the duties described below:

- Delivery and continued development of CPS Communications Strategy
- Delivery of internal and external communications, which are aligned to business and departmental priorities, target audiences and corporate messaging.
- Deliver against communications and customer services contractual obligations.
- Manage and guide the following communications functions:

- Internal Communications (intranet, internal events - online and in-person, department communications support)
- External Communications (e.g. social media, website, PR)
- Scheme Communications (e.g. communications planning, community engagement, notification)
- Customer Services (e.g. customer enquiries and complaints, MP correspondence, and official requests e.g. Freedom of Information requests, parliamentary questions and high-level correspondence)
- Guide the business on sensitive matters regarding works taking place on the network, potential reputational impacts and internal change programmes.
- Liaise with parent company communications teams on matters such as media enquiries and proactive/ reactive PR opportunities, which could impact our/their reputation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally.
- Manage and coach the team to ensure continued high performance and professional development.

**Who we're looking for** Essential**:

- Knowledge of best practice, innovative and creative approaches to communications
- Extensive communications and community relations experience
- Proven capability in developing communications strategies and plans to meet business needs
- Strong business acumen
- Experience of operating at a senior level with ability to influence and negotiate at this level
- Strong analysis and problem solving skills
- A team player with ability to manage, engage and develop team members
- A self starter with ability to prioritise workload to meet business needs.

**Preferable**:

- Experience of working on large building/civil engineering infrastructure projects
- Experience of adhering to contractual obligations relating to communications and customer care within major projects.
