A bit about VEST

Decarbonising electricity is vital to cutting global emissions. To allow electricity grids to hit 100% renewable generation, battery storage needs to be built in the GWs. VEST Energy is a clean tech trading house focused on battery storage. Our mission is to get more battery assets onto electricity grids. We help companies understand the business case for battery storage, build their assets and provide a route to market for these assets in trading markets.

This is an exciting role to join our growing team by supporting the Data Scientist, Operations Manager and Managing Partner. You will be involved in all aspects of the company, from the operations and optimisation of our BESS assets to data analytics and market forecasting. Here, you will learn a great deal about energy infrastructure and the importance of energy storage systems as renewable generation increases and Britain moves to net zero. Furthermore, you will be involved in end-to-end delivery of projects, from initial client revenue forecasting to asset optimisation and revenue settlements once the BESS has been constructed. The role is varied and would suit someone with excellent time management skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring the assets VEST currently optimises and ensuring no problems arise.
- Supporting the optimisation and trading of VEST assets in a way to maximise revenue for both the customers and the company.
- Creating operational reports summarising asset trading activity.
- Communication with clients.
- Running revenue forecasting software and data science work to support the sales team.
- Develop an understanding the various markets (both in and outside of GB) batteries can participate in.
- Forecasting different markets both short-term and long-term.
- Analyse datasets and produce meaningful insights into the data.
- Keeping up to date with the ever-changing market.
- Create ad-hoc reports summarising the latest developments in energy markets and technology developments.
- Timely and accurate production of monthly operational reports summarising asset trading activity and accompanying invoices for clients.
- Submission of monthly unavailability paperwork to National Grid.
- Liaising with customers, counter parties, suppliers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Support with bringing new assets on line, including planning and managing installation, and monitoring/management of assets, if necessary.
- Support with the sales process from end to end and all associated actions.
- Support with regular processing of financial documentation.
- Support in the production of presentations and collateral describing the company and its services.

Job Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft office products, particularly Excel.
- Ability to coordinate own workload, be organised and meet deadlines.
- Desire to learn about storage systems and the energy market.
- Analytical mindset to break down larger problems into smaller problems which can then be solved in a logical way.
- Eloquent and outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice to haves
- Interest in the Energy sector.
- Basic understanding of SQL and databases.Any Programming experience (preferably Python).
