The post holder will be an integral member of the SPRU and associated medical services team, providing primary secretarial / administrative support to the Medical Consultant body. It is important that the post holder work flexibly to cover for other medical secretaries’ work where necessary. The post holder will also act as one of the central points of contact for patients / relatives, ensuring a positive corporate image and good client care is promoted at all times.

To prioritise own workload, effectively manage competing priorities within own workload and also the wider general office environment. Provide cover/crossover for other medical secretaries and administrative team within the service as and when necessary and during periods of absence, to ensure the continued smooth running of the office and service.

To be the primary point-of-contact for the Medical Consultants. Deal with
enquiries on their behalf, take messages accurately, give information and advice (not medical) to GPs, relatives and other staff involved with the patient in a manner responsive to customer needs and in accordance with consent to share information. To have the skills and knowledge to redirect queries to relevant people if necessary.

To support the wider administrative team with administrative functions where appropriate or necessary, for example the collection and oversight of team performance monitoring information using a database, spreadsheet and/or dedicated Trust patient information system, ensuring that all information is readily available for presentation and use on a regular basis.

holder would be expected to work with the Head of Business Development to
refine the role profile in light of experience, patient and user feedback, other
stakeholder feedback and the needs of the Trust.
