To work closely with the existing POCT Lead and other coordinators and POCT Clinical Lead and members of the POCT Group (including key personnel in the Integrated Care Board (ICB)) The post holder will also be dealing with a variety of key personnel including clinicians, GPs, nursing staff, other hospital and primary care staff, supplier representatives, and engineers Undertake projects for POCT as directed by the POCT or Clinical Scientist/ICB leads. Responsibility for ensuring all tests are performed according to established laboratory standard operating procedures and within agreed turnaround times. To ensure the quality of the analytical service is maintained to UKAS ISO 15189:2022 standards. To be trained and competent in all POCT systems within the POCT network both in the acute hospital sites and community areas.

Responsibility for ensuring the procurement, implementation and safe use of expensive and complex equipment is in line with the clinical governance framework laid down within the POCT policy. To coordinate relevant staff in initiating any troubleshooting and problem solving tasks in relation to errors with equipment, methodologies and quality control. To deputise for the POCT coordinator & POCT clinical leads and deputise at meetings in their absence. To be actively involved in the selection and recruitment of staff.

Ensure good communications in order to create an efficient well motivated group of staff. To assist with the induction of new staff. To coordinate other members of staff to provide mentoring for new members of staff, as required To be involved with the training of Healthcare Science Practitioners, Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners and Medical Laboratory Assistants. To include the preparation and presentation of tutorials.

To be an active member of Laboratory meetings and a variety of Trust based meetings such as Patient Safety and other ad hoc meetings associated with the setup and governance of POCT. Attend a multitude of different meetings with both healthcare professionals and commercial companies involved in the delivery of POCT solutions. To ensure commercially sensitive supplier information is protected in line with service level agreements and the data protection act. To participate in the budget setting process of the ICS POCT project in order to plan for future service needs and identify current cost pressures To help to ensure all staff follow appropriate Standard Operating Procedures and comply with Health and Safety requirements and policies As commensurate with the access level of POCT Coordinator Band 7, perform routine and more specialist/complex tasks on the laboratory computer system.

To be involved in audit and process redesign of the POCT department with other senior members of Pathology to ensure the demands for POCT both in the acute trust areas and the Gloucestershire NHS community areas are met. To co-ordinate all elements relevant to ISO15189:2022, to support the development of Annual Management Reviews of POC services. Use Q-Pulse to record any point of care activities and issues such as NCRs, audits and documentation. Use web and server based management tools such as Gem Web, NovaNet and POCcelerator to monitor diagnostic result data, provide clinical reports on request and monitor performance and governance of connected POCT systems and users.

To highlight any shortcomings or failures within these programmes and ensure root cause and corrective actions are identified in a timely fashion in order to prevent patient treatments from being compromised. Work with the overall Point of Care Co-ordinator team to ensure there is a training programme with defined competencies for each type of POCT device. To coordinate and manage relevant staff in maintaining a register of competent staff who are authorised to use each device, and where technically possible limiting access to POCT to trained users by automatic means. To deliver and support training to a multitude of different healthcare professionals who utilise POCT devices, this includes but is not exclusive to nursing staff, clinicians, HCA's, GP practice staff.

To ensure compliance with Information Governance guidelines in all areas served by the POCT team To participate in an annual appraisal and development review meeting.
