To work closely under the management of the POCT Co-ordinator and POCT Clinical Lead and members of the POCT Group. Key working relationships will exist between the post holder and the POCT lead, Band 6 POCT HCS and Clinical Scientist for POCT. The post holder will also be dealing with a variety of key personnel including clinicians, GPs, nursing staff, other hospital and primary care staff, supplier representatives, and engineers Undertake projects for POCT as directed by the POCT or Clinical Scientist leads. Undertake various admin responsibilities using the POCcelerator network system, including setting up and removing of POCT devices as required, updating consumable information and user access.

Generating clinical reports as requested by POCT leads or clinical staff. To assist with the training and support of ward and outpatient based staff using complex POCT equipment. Participate in method evaluations and comparison studies for point of care tests Regularly review the appropriate usage of all materials both within the Chemical Pathology department and all POCT hospital areas. To assist with data collection that may be required for audits, as directed by Healthcare Scientist staff.

To carry out routine audits as agreed with the senior staff. Use Q Pulse to record point of care activities and issues such as NCRs, audits, document control. To keep abreast of developments in the laboratory and in POCT. You will be expected to work at both sites and this may include an element of lone working.

With reference to work undertaken, especially outside routine hours, provide advice to users of the service.
