This opportunity is only open to substantive Officers serving with West Mercia, Warwickshire and Staffordshire Police Forces. At this time, this role is not open to West Midlands Police Officers.
Please note you will need to have been in your substantive post for at least 12 months

The ROCUWM Regional Intelligence Unit are looking to recruit team players who are enthusiastic and committed police officers from across the Midlands region to join the Regional Organised Crime Threat Assessment Team as an Intelligence Officer.

The ROCTA provides a single regional capability that assesses, manages and understands the threat and risk from serious and organised crime. The ROCTA is designed to enhance and improve the delivery of a consistent and complete assessment of organised crime risk across agencies throughout the region The key deliverables of the ROCTA being;
- The comprehensive identification of the threat and risk from serious & organised crime from across police and partner agencies.
- The implementation of a consistent process for the assessment of risk.
- The effective management of the risk to support resource allocation.
- An informed understanding of the contribution being made by ROCU’s to tackling serious & organised crime.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Our Intelligence officers have the following collective responsibilities, which allow the coordination of information and intelligence in order to inform the regional threat picture and focus operational activity:

- Review Force daily returns and Covert Support Team (CST) produced Daily Management Meeting (DMM) document and conduct intelligence scanning to identify regionally significant issues across the control strategy.
- To highlight current intelligence gaps which are to be shared with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with the production of bespoke intelligence products that identify the threat, harm and risk across the SOC portfolio within the West Midlands region, evaluate the 4P response and drive the current intelligence requirements for the region.
- Maintain Intelligence databases enabling the effective monitoring of threats and identification of opportunities to respond and disrupt, utilising covert assets and partners, ensuring better analytical outcomes.
- Coordinate the sharing of intelligence between forces and ROCUs in relation to OCGs impacting across force and regional boundaries ensuring early identification of investigative opportunities to disrupt offenders and/or safeguard vulnerable victims.
- Seek to support Forces locally and NCA nationally in co-ordinating and enriching research on operational activity within the region including OCG’s, Priority Individuals or vulnerabilities where enquiries have been exhausted.
- Support of the identification, assessment and review of OCGs, individuals and vulnerabilities through the collection of data/trigger reports from forces and other agencies.
- Support of the assessment and review using a standard assessment criterion (including MoRiLE and OCGM) and to exploit data sources to objectively assess threats providing an understanding of levels of risk and the identification of opportunities for disruptions.
- To provide support in the management of OCGs through liaison with LRO’s and the provision of intelligence support through the OCG management process.
- To provide tactical advice to LRO’s on intelligence development opportunities from a wide range of tactics.

**Essential Skills and Experience:

- Proven ability to deliver accurate and succinct intelligence products in line with specified deadlines.
- Proven experience of ability to research and analyse information.
- Thorough knowledge of intelligence systems and processes.
- Demonstrate highly effective interpersonal communication skills: including verbal and written skills. The post holder will be articulate, methodical, conscientious and concise.
- Work effectively with minimum supervision whilst remaining team focussed. Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and produce accurate work within tight deadlines.
- Ability to operate with the highest standards of integrity, discretion, confidentiality and aptitude to manage highly sensitive information within the Government Security Classification (GSC) and Security Policy Framework (SPF).
- Knowledge of police systems and policing; current legislation, policies and procedures (e.g. GDPR, Human Rights Act, CPIA, ROCU Control Strategy).
