**Job summary**:
A number of exciting opportunities currently exist, and more shall arise over the next six months, for administrative support roles in our Army units based in York and the surrounding area.** **Whilst none of these posts are currently in scope of any change or transformation programmes that is not to say that they may be in the future.

**Job description**:
The majority of the working week will be office based, but there may be times when occasional remote working with the line manager’s agreement is possible. As part of a flexible and adaptable workforce you may from time to time be asked to assist others with priority tasks instead of your normal outputs which will give you greater insight to the workings and understanding of the large and complex world of Defence. As Defence priorities and needs change sometimes it is necessary to take on a new permanent role. When this does occur, it will be within your travel-to-work area, unless of course you volunteer to travel further.

Here are some examples of where our administrative support staff might work and the type of outputs they might perform:
Outer Office: supporting the most senior staff in the organisation by managing diaries, arranging meetings and outward visits, meeting external visitors, arranging travel, preparing briefing packs and drafting routine correspondence.

Information-Hub (i-Hub): supporting the management of electronic and paper documentation, maintaining web pages and electronic filing systems, assisting with the coordination of IT assets, manage and prepare conference/meeting facilities, handle unit incoming/outgoing post, order unit stationery requirements and draft routine correspondence.

Division/Brigade HQ Staff Branch: supporting the desk officers of a branch who are responsible for specific outputs (such as operational planning, military personnel human resources support, logistic planning and delivery, financial/resource management) through maintenance of databases and records, analysing data and preparing reports, drafting routine correspondence.

Army Reserve Units: working in the battalion/regimental headquarters or in a sub-unit squadron/company may involve a wide range of tasks including military HR support that involves managing pay and personnel documentation, working for the quartermaster accounting for stores and assets, coordinate unit IT holdings, maintain databases and records, analysing data and preparing reports, drafting routine correspondence, arranging travel and receiving visitors to the unit.e majority of the working week will be office based, but there may be times when occasional remote working with the line manager’s agreement is possible.
