An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Worker to join our Supported Living 16+ provisions. Our young people may have complex needs, and challenging behaviour and may require personal care and other emotional or social needs.

We are seeking positive and enthusiastic Support Workers to work directly with our young people, helping them gain independence and have an enjoyable life.

We are recruiting a **full-time **and a **part-time **support workers to support our growing team.

Working hours will vary and will be discussed at interview. This is a fast-paced role, so you will be required to be flexible with hours due to the support required. You will work on a rota basis throughout the week, weekends, and on bank holidays with sleep ins (sleep ins are a requirement to the role) as well. We plan our rotas in advance with the needs of the service.

No two days are ever the same, sometimes they may be challenging but will always be rewarding.

**What does a Support Worker do?**

As a Support Worker, you will be providing support to our young people. This can be through emotional or practical support, such as helping them pay bills or with house duties.

A Support Worker’s role is to help service users maximize their choices, rights, and decisions. It is important that you will be able to work alone and at times under pressure with a calm and empathetic approach. This will include:

- Supporting people to live independently with budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments, and cooking delicious healthy meals.
- Excellent communication skills/relationship building and supporting the young person to understand the world around them, and promoting positive relationships.
- Community and Social Inclusion with supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
- Providing person-centred care to a range of vulnerable individuals across various settings.
- Assisting in the delivery of care to meet the individual’s health and wellbeing needs. This may include personal care.
- Providing and receiving complex, sensitive, or contentious information.
- Developing your own knowledge and skills, as well as that of others.
- Contributing to continuous quality improvement.
- Promoting people’s equality, diversity, and rights.
- Working autonomously with minimum supervisions.
- Supporting young people to focus on their education, behaviour, and physical and mental well-being to achieve a positive outcome.
- Reacting quickly and efficiently in emergency situations, and to ensure the wellbeing of the young children/people and others.
- Being confident in complying with all regulatory requirements, i.e., Health and Safety, COSHH, RIDDOR and Accident Reporting.
- Being confident with support plans, risk assessments, and being able to complete a thorough handover to the rest of the team and management regarding the individual concerned in a positive, structured, and professional manner.

**Pay Rates**:
This role is paid hourly at £12.55 per hour. Sleep-in's are paid additional to this at £40 per night. On average, current team members are doing between 2-3 sleep in's per week.

**The advertised salary is based on 40 hours and 2 sleep-in's per week.**

**Shift Patterns**:
Where a home operates a waking night, staff will work a 24-hour shift (e.g. 10am to 10am). Where a home operates a sleep-in, staff will work a block pattern (e.g. Tuesday 10am to Thursday 10am).
