We are delighted to be supporting our client, a leading London university, to recruit for a full time temporary Senior Department Manager. This role is to lead and manage the Professional Services team in the Department. The post will be hybrid working,requiring a minimum of two days onsite per week.

The postholder will be responsible for supporting and representing their department and delivering a range of cross-functional activities including education, research support, business support, enterprise & engagement, health & safety, space & facilitiesmanagement, and equality, diversity & inclusion.

This post will cover elements of the following areas:

- Service delivery - supporting the effective utilisation of embedded department staffing resources to deliver departmental and organisational needs, including the reviewing, and shaping of departmental processes.
- Service commissioning - escalating to and collaborating with functional leads in the faculty to coordinate extra support and identify resource to meet operational challenges in the department.
- Strategic planning and implementation - supporting the Head of Department and Deputies in the scoping and implementation of the strategic projects as part of the faculty strategy.
- Advocacy - being the lead professional services representative for the department in the faculty and advocating in relevant fora for the department.
- Line management of team leaders in the department, working with colleagues in the faculty as part of the matrix management structure to resolve any issues, promote career development, and succession plan.

In order to be considered for this position, you will have previous experience within a similar post, ideally from within higher education or a similar organisation. Previous experience of leading and managing staff will be required, along with previousexperience of managing change. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, along with capable of managing and prioritising a varied workload, whilst working well under pressure and demonstrating a flexible attitude to work.
