An exciting opportunity has arisen at UCLH for a Teenage Cancer Trust Youth Support Coordinator to join a highly respected play and youth services team. To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant qualification in youth work, play specialism, psychology, teaching or relevant health or social care qualification and you will have extensive experience of working with young people. You will need to have experience of working with young people in a healthcare setting and be able to deal sensitively with families under stress. You will need to be able to engage easily with young people and be able to work effectively with your MDT colleagues to enhance the young person’s hospital experience. You will work as part of a supportive team where play and recreation are valued and respected as an integrated part of young people’s treatment and your contribution to the patient’s pathway will be highly respected.

The post holder will be responsible for providing both individually tailored and group support both on and off the unit. Working in partnership with other YSC colleagues they will both lead and contribute to a wide range of appropriate recreational activities, to enable and encourage patients to socialise and remain active as young people throughout the cancer trajectory, living with and beyond cancer.

The post holder will need to be able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the service including some evening and weekend working.
