**Defence Equipment**
The Supply Chain Specialist role is based within our Defence Equipment business area.
Defence equipment stores, maintains, repairs and overhauls military vehicles and equipment so the UK army is able to train and deploy in a moment. As well as supporting vehicles that are already in service, the team carries out vehicle assembly integrationand tests new vehicles.

**The difference our new Supply Chain Specialist will make**
As a Supply Chain Specialist, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join us and to provide procurement and supplier management support across a number of key contracts including defence equipment and whitefleet.
Day to day, you'll be responsible for strategic sourcing, procurement & sub-contracting activity to improve contract coverage and extract maximum value from a category of spend with potential opportunities.

This role involves some travel to our defence equipment site (such as Bovington, Warminster and Donnington)as required. The role will primarily be working from home with access to a Babcock hub.

**Essential experience**:

- Evidence of previously working in an end-to-end procurement role, leading tenders, negotiations, implementing new contracts and extracting value over the life of the agreement
- Understanding and experience of working in a Defence environment is desirable
- Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) or working towards is desirable
- Excellent communication, great attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel)
- A willingness to collaborate across teams and varying levels of seniority to overcome supply chain operational performance issues
- Must hold or have the ability to obtain SC Security Clearance
