**JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Post Title**:Community Engagement and Funding Officer

**Reporting to**:Head of Library Services

**Job Purpose**:

- To be part of the professional library management team, developing and delivering library and information services in the Scottish Borders and to learn from the senior management team.
- To engage with community partners to ensure the library service within the Borders meet the cultural, literacy and learning needs of local communities.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Lead the organisation of a vibrant, diverse and inclusive programme of high-quality outreach activities, e.g., selecting and programming events and speakers and working with key staff members who will manage these events and monitor their progress and impact, which in the longer term will become part of the core offer of the library service.
- Working in partnership with council services, health organisations, the third sector, volunteers and librarians, to develop, deliver, promote and evaluate activities in libraries and at outreach events which address key health and wellbeing and social isolation agendas.
- Lead Library Services in providing great opportunities for volunteers in the service.

**Outline of Duties**:

- Engage colleagues to gain their ideas, input and respond to their questions in implementing new and evolving services, activities and events.
- Represent Live Borders internally and externally in meetings, forums and events concerning community library services, sharing information with colleagues, as well as promoting and representing Live Borders services externally.
- Make clear recommendations to engage and co-produce with various community groups on new and evolving services including working with colleagues across services to integrate services from across Live Borders and across a range of Live Borders venues.
- Develop and maintain appropriate standards and systems of practice for community engagement to ensure customers and staff benefit from consistent and positive community engagement.
- Lead the development of the new and growing health, wellbeing and social inclusion work across the library services including the preparation of staff training and organise and undertake delivery of training for staff in community engagement and new service development initiatives as required.
- Drive public awareness of the community and outreach services and engage with colleagues in marketing and the service to develop and deliver communication plans for new and existing services.
- Produce reports that analyse usage, income, development opportunities and make clear recommendations for progressing new and sustainable community services across the library portfolio.
