Are you an experienced, dynamic and aspirational Midwife, keen to enhance your career progression in leadership?

We are seeking a motivated, proactive midwifery manager to join our senior leadership team in the role of Assistant Director of Midwifery. The post is based at Oldham Care Organisation, which is part of the Northern Care Alliance, the post holder will receive extensive opportunities to develop their knowledge and leadership skills to progress a career in senior management.

The post holder will utilise their expert knowledge in midwifery practice to support and role model behaviours within our services. We are seeking someone special to join our team and get involved in our Maternity Improvement programme in our services.

The post holder will work collaboratively with team leaders, departmental managers, Lead midwives and the wider multi-disciplinary team. You will need to be willing to travel flexibly and to attend outside events/meetings as and when necessary.

You will be involved in developing innovative and proactive guidance and policies to improve outcomes. For our service users. You will support the senior Leadership Team within Maternity and the wider Care Organisation in delivering against key objectives.

Oldham Care Organisation is part of the Northern Care Alliance, one of the largest NHS organisations in the country. The place where the world’s first IVF baby was delivered, Oldham is a town of pioneering firsts. Today, Oldham is responsible for delivering a range of acute and community health services across the local area and at The Royal Oldham Hospital. As a designated major trauma unit for Greater Manchester and one of only three vascular centres in Greater Manchester, Oldham is a specialist hospital for acute surgery and provides state-of-the-art onsite pathology services to the Northwest.

As the Healthier Together plans continue across Greater Manchester the Oldham Care Organisation is planned to play a crucial role with Oldham Care Organisation being identified as a red/hub hospital for the area.

The hospital has a full accident and emergency department and offers a comprehensive range of acute, general and specialist surgical services. The site also includes a dedicated Women’s and Childrens unit, offering one of only three Tertiary maternity units in the area. It is also home to the Alliance’s state of the art pathology lab providing a range of pathology services

You will have the full support and guidance of the senior management team in all aspects of your role, and a comprehensive induction/handover will be provided. You will be included in all key meetings, and for your continuing professional development will be encouraged to attend relevant training/information and update events.

In order to fulfil the needs of this role you will need to be caring and empathic, but also tenacious and resilient. Communication is key - so promoting good relationships with your colleagues and the wider multi-disciplinary team should come naturally to you.

Your role will involve working alongside the existing Multidisciplinary Teams, so you should have extensive experience of close team working.

Part of your role will involve the ongoing support and training of your staff so an ability to present and talk publicly would be beneficial, alongside knowledge of the core training required.
