Our Young Persons Worker teams offer vital support, training, and education to young people in their locality. They work with other agencies and professionals to safeguard their young clients, working with their families too where appropriate.

The role of the Young Persons Worker - Schools Team will include group and 1:1 support in schools across the North of Lancashire including Fylde, Wyre, Morecambe, and Lancaster. You will be delivering support and harm reduction interventions around substance use (drugs and alcohol) and risk taking behaviours. You'll also be proactively engaging with young people to provide them with the support, training, education and guidance they need to better understand the implication of the situations they may face and the decision they may take

As a Young Persons Worker - Schools Team you will be integrated into our wider teams at We Are With You and will attend events and deliver information sessions and programmes across North Lancashire. There will additionally be opportunities for outreach work across the county.

This role is a full time position with working hours of Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.

**REQUIRED SKILLS**:
To be able to do this job successfully, you will have:

- attained an ONC/NVQ level 3 or be willing to achieve this within 12 months
- evidence of continuous professional development
- a successful track record of therapeutic working with young people in groups and 1:1 settings
- demonstrable experience of supporting young people in relation to mental health or substance misuse
- the knowledge and understanding of issues affecting young people such as substance misuse, mental and physical health and emotional wellbeing
- demonstrable experience of carrying out comprehensive assessments, assess risk, devise care plans and deliver evidence based interventions
- the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues alike
- good organisational skills to be able to manage your time effectively, prioritising your work and being able to cope with the pressure of competing demands
- effective IT skills, able to use different packages and digital media
- able to be flexible with your working hours on occasion
- be happy to support other With You locations when needed
- a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

**DESIRABLE SKILLS**:

- Experience of working within Children's Social Care
- Knowledge of parenting skills and issues
