Canterbury, United Kingdom Canterbury City Council Full time

Do you have a proven track record of delivering improvements to parks & gardens? If so, you could be the right person to help Canterbury City Council deliver key aspects of our ambitious and exciting Levelling Up programme.

We have secured £22 million pounds for a variety of public realm and cultural improvements in Canterbury. The improvements will provide visible and measurable improvements to the local area for residents, businesses as well as visitors, not only restoring pride of place but also significantly enhancing the local offer. More detail on the Levelling Up projects can be found here.

We are seeking someone with experience and knowledge to support the delivery of hard and soft landscaping improvements to parks and gardens.

The role will be varied; you will need to coordinate and manage a number of projects simultaneously using your specialist knowledge to ensure compliance with standards and all necessary approval processes.

You will engage with consultants, contractors and the wider client design team to meet the key outputs and keep projects within agreed cost frameworks.

You will need to be an excellent communicator to ensure stakeholders and local community groups are informed and consulted with as appropriate.

The role will be within the friendly and highly-supportive Transport and Environment team where you will report to the Senior Environment Manager and may be required to help with the delivery of other environment projects.

Canterbury City Council is a district council in the heart of Kent and offers a vibrant place to work and live. It is an aspirational city that is steeped in history and culture and has a beautiful, active coastline along with a village life that epitomises the Garden of England. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a key programme that will reboot Canterbury’s position as a global heritage destination and transform the city centre.

Canterbury City Council is a great place to work. Our conditions include Local Government Pension Scheme membership plus benefits. Our staff benefits package includes generous annual leave and flexible working arrangements, reduced cost leisure membership and excellent training and development opportunities.

This is a fixed term post ending on completion of the Levelling Up Fund project in April 2025.

Interviews are due to take place w/c 20 March 2023.

Site maintenance is being carried out on 25 February 2023 between 00:00 - 12:00.
