An exciting opportunity has risen for a self-motivated and dynamic individual to join our education team as a Clinical Skills Trainer, to assist with the planning, organisation, and delivery of our undergraduate training programme.
We are looking for an experienced RGN with a keen interest in education and is dedicated to the clinical development of medical students and staff to provide safe, high-quality care to patients.
You will need to be able to work autonomously, have excellent communication and organisation skills, be able to demonstrate an ability to teach, assess and develop others.
The post holder will be fully supported by the clinical skill team leads and wider education team, an ideal opportunity for those who want to develop further within education.
**The role**:
As a Clinical Skills Trainer you will be a registered RGN delivering clinical training to our undergraduate medical students, which includes assessing students in clinical practice, and other multi-professional staff within the Trust. You will have involvement with Simulation training for both undergraduate and postgraduate medical programmes.
The post holder will deliver a clinical skills and practical procedures programme to undergraduate and postgraduate trainees.
The post holder will teach a wide range of practical procedures and develop teaching methods in all aspects of clinical skills.
The post holder will assist and actively participate in simulation teaching with the simulation faculty.
This post supports the delivery of high quality medical education, through the organisation, co-ordination and management of educational learning events.

**Principle Responsibilities/Competencies**:
Clinical Skills
- To assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a programme of Clinical Skills education for medical students from Cambridge University Medical School and UCL Medical School during their placements at this Trust.
- To assist with the planning, implementation and evaluation of a programme of Clinical Skills education for Trainee Physician Associates (TPAs) during their placement at this Trust
- To teach clinical skills to medical students, trainee Physician Associates, junior doctors, nurses and other Allied Health Professionals
- To assist with the organisation and participate in the delivery of placement revision OSCE’s and weekly lectures timetable
- To act as an examiner for all formative and summative assessments (e.g., OSCE’s / formative assessment) both locally, in Cambridge and at any other designated regional location
- To support students in clinical areas to complete practical skills, when required
- To attend clinical skills meetings as appropriate at both Medical Schools
- To liaise with Medical Schools’ Clinical Skills staff and Clinical Teachers to facilitate the delivery of procedural skills and Medical School curriculums.
- To prepare timetables and participation in evaluation of timetables
- Work collaboratively with the administrative team to ensure confidential records, are kept of all participants attending courses, which adhere to data protection law
- To provide appropriate remediation training in practical skills to students
- To support and teach clinical skills to junior doctors and as required for nurses and other allied health professionals
- To contribute to the Medical Schools Quality Assurance Framework, KPIs and associated site visits
Simulation
- To support delivery of the simulation programmes for medical students, Foundation trainees, Specialty specific programmes and multi-professional programmes
- To actively participate as an involved faculty member e.g., playing roles and debriefing
- Plan and facilitate simulation-based education, including use of VR and other learning activities e.g., 1:1 or group training, in-situ simulation
- To communicate pre-course information
- To assist with collation and evaluation of feedback
General
- To ensure own practice demonstrates current clinical knowledge
- To adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of learners requiring additional support
