Duties in your role would include offering mental health assessments and care planning/treatment for moderate to severe mental health illnesses that are experienced by those aged under 18 years. Robust MDT processes will support you and your clinical decision making in relation to the children and young people you assess. As a senior colleague you will have opportunity to offer clinical supervision to others as well as offering mentorship to band 5 colleagues, students and trainees. You are expected to engage in clinical supervision and be able to communicate with children, young people, families and partner agencies both verbally and in writing to promote mental health recovery.

You would need to manage and respond to the distress of others and access additional support and advice when needed. You will work closely with other members of MDTs and liaise with partnership agencies supporting interventions that are evidence based and meet the needs of the young person. You would work with autonomy and initiative with the limits of your knowledge, experience and professional training, attending clinical and management supervision, and working collaborative as part of the MDT.
