Dapdune House Surgery is looking for an organised, highly motivated and conscientious Clinical Coder/Administrator with a strong clinical background to join our practice. You will have a high standard of IT literacy, and in particular knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office and experience in using clinical systems such as EMIS and DOCMAN. Knowledge of medical terminology and coding will be key for the summarising element of the role.

You will be part of a small team and must have a high attention to detail to deliver timely and accurate coded data to meet the needs of the practice.

The role also involves working closely with all members of the Practice’s Administrative and Clinical teams. This will not be a patient-facing role.

Responsible to: Practice Manager

Job Summary: To input patient information on to clinical systems, oversee the administration of patient records and systems and ensure data quality.

Main Duties of the job:

- Ensure that the filing and recording of patient information is promptly handled with care and in line with practice policies and procedures
- Code all clinical correspondence accurately to appropriate patient records on the EMIS Web clinical system
- Workflow to appropriate team/clinician for detailed actions identified on the correspondence
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with the practice procedures
- Participate in ongoing formal training in accordance with national standards and Practice requirements to update and maintain skills and knowledge.
- Promote and improve awareness of clinical coding, communicating to clinical and management staff the complex rules of coding and its financial effects.
- Summarising new records, ensuring all clinical data is transferred accurately.
- Daily and weekly administrative tasks, mainly in relation to patient recall for chronic disease management and patient registration.
