Providing support and expert advice on Bariatric Care across DCHS, including assessments, training and provision of advice on appropriate equipment and environments.

There are 2 posts available, one vacancy for 15 hours and one for 22.5 hours per week, both working full days, Monday to Friday with the possibility of flexible start and finish times, as the service requires.
The post holder will assist in the maintenance of the Trusts compliance with current legislation ensuring that the Trust fulfils its legal obligations regarding patient manual handling through the implementation of the manual handling policy, ensuring all manual handling advice is current, researched and evidence based and within knowledge base.
**This will include**:
Providing specialist manual handling assessment and advice concerning care and treatment of patients with complex needs, including patients with bariatric needs.
Working closely with the Clinical Quality Teams, providing mutual support in the delivery of the Directorate goals to ensure delivery of high quality, safe patient care.
Supporting the Patient Manual Handling & Bariatric Care Lead with identification, development and implementation of quality improvement projects required from services and the Trust Board.
The patient Manual Handling & Bariatric Care team are part of the Quality and Professional Standards Directorate providing assurance to the Trust Board.
The Team is dedicated to assuring the safety of patients and staff involved with the manual handling of patients.
The Team provides a variety of support to clinicians to enable them to resolve personal handling challenges and needs of plus size people.
The PMH&BCA will act as a role model in patient manual handling and challenge poor practice.
Deliver training at Trust Induction and for Key Trainers, including a competency assessment, in line with the Derbyshire Inter Agency (DIAG) Code of Practice guidance.
Provide support to, and manage the competency of, Key Trainers to ensure the consistency of cascade training across the trust.
Be involved in the development and implementation of environmental, training and equipment audits and assist with the completion of these.
Advise and support the Patient Manual Handling and Bariatric Care Lead with equipment procurement, and re-allocation and distribution of patient manual handling resources/equipment across the Trust.
