**Main Purpose of Job**

To record and organise financial transactions in a proper and systematic way. This is a temporary 4 month role, on a part time basis, to cover maternity leave over the very busy summer period.

**Main Objectives**

To maintain financial systems and procedures efficiently, accurately and in a timely manner to ensure the company’s financial security and viability is always protected;
To update and maintain accounting software and files so that accurate financial information required to assist decision making is available at any given time;
To cover such work as is carried out by other members of staff in the Finance Department as is necessary in their absence and within the capability of the job holder to ensure that the department continues to operate smoothly and successfully;
**Key Tasks**

Purchase Ledger:
1. Post credit card receipts and expense claims to the ledger and internal systems on a timely basis via Dext, where available;
2. Ensure proper authorisation/ verification of purchase invoices/credit card expenses prior to processing;
3. Source missing documents on a timely basis to ensure ledgers are up to date and complete;
4. Ensure documents are coded to correct account and tracking categories;
5. Ensure VAT is processed in an accurate and timely manner and all costs are fully supported with valid tax documents;
Bank and cash:
1. Post receipts & payments to the appropriate accounts/ledgers in a timely and accurate manner;
2. Ensure transactions are receipted and missing information followed up promptly;
General Administration:
1. Liaise with customers, suppliers, staff and others, and deal with queries on a timely basis;
2. Assist the Finance team with daily tasks as and where necessary;
3. Undertake any other duties that may arise from time to time, at the request of the business, that the job holder may reasonably be expected to perform, including cover for absence as appropriate.

Hours of work will be 9am to 5pm 2-3 days per week, Ideally Monday, Tuesday and/or Friday. This will be a 4 month contract preferably on a self employed basis, starting early June until around mid September.

Rate of pay starting at £16 per hour depending on experience. Knowledge of working on online accounting functions (Xero and Dext) preferable but not essential.
