**Purpose of the Job**

As an Operational Safety Advisor you would be responsible too proactively manage and carry out the training and assessment of depot operations employees who hold competence in depot driving, shunter, designated person and other safety critical roles. Ensure all operational safety activities are carried out in a safe and compliant manner to ensure that Alstom meets and exceeds it’s regulatory, contractual and company obligations.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Alstom operational staff are trained and assessed to the highest standard so staff can operate in a safe and efficient manner. Ensure that operational staff remain competent in the the task and to proactively manage any deficiencies by implementing development strategies. Undertake investigations as required. Develop briefing material to support best practice and drive down operational incidents.

**Your profile**:

- A good knowledge and understanding of railway operational activities specifically associated with controlling rail vehicle movements in depots and factories. A working knowledge of track infrastructure and its maintenance and a high level of knowledge related to competency assurance and training requirements for operational staff.
- Operational competence in depot driving
- A1 assessor qualification or similar
- A good all round knowledge of occupational H&S, Product Safety and Operational Railway Safety regulations and standards.
- A good knowledge of RGS Standards and in particular the Rule Book GE/RT 8000
- A minimum of three years railway operational experience
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory and specific Rail Industry safety, quality and environmental standards.
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team
- Flexibility
- Communication, influencing with strong inter-personal skills
- Proficiency level for English language.

- Experience in undertaking investigations
- Internal verifier qualification
- Trainer qualifications
- Experience in carrying out risk assessments
- Maximising lean principles
- Identify any training requirements as a result of introducing new requirements
- Identify areas for improvements within the organisation to improve business performance, reduce Life Cycle costs and improve reliability through Engineering
- Support the Movements Manager in identifying training needs and support development of training material including possible delivery of materials
