The post holder will be expected to be competent in initial management of common Plastic Surgery emergencies including major burns (adult and paediatric) and operative management of basic hand trauma including tendon and nerve repairs.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The department provides opportunity for exposure in a wide range of plastic and reconstructive surgery. This is the regional unit for Burns, Sarcoma, and Cleft lip and Palate care. The post will also include the opportunity to gain experience in breast reconstruction and oncoplastic breast surgery, hand surgery and skin cancer surgery. There are also opportunities for involvement working alongside other specialities involving major trauma and lower limb reconstruction, Head and Neck, Chest Wall and Gynaecological reconstruction.

The post holder will be part of a 1 in 9 or 10 registrar on call rota. The post holder will be expected to be competent in initial management of common Plastic Surgery emergencies including major burns (adult and paediatric) and operative management of basic hand trauma including tendon and nerve repairs.

It is important that they know well the patients that are under the care of the subspecialty and helps with the running of the Department.

Essential criteria
- Must hold or be eligible for Full Registration with the General Medical Council and license to practice
- GMC Registration (or eligible) BMBS or equivalent MRCS or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of Core trainee in Surgical specialties including 1 year experience in Plastic Surgery
- NHS experience of 12 months or more

Desirable criteria
- Evidence of ability for career progression within 3 years of MRCS Experience in Plastic Surgery for 6 months at registrar level

**Skills**:
Essential criteria
- Worked as senior Core trainee in Plastic Surgery for a minimum of 12-18 months
- Communication skills, computer skills, good professional relationships, commitment to Plastic Surgery

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
