Job overview

East Midlands Sarcoma Service is a regional specialist centre for the diagnosis and management of soft tissue sarcomas for the 4.5 million population of the East Midlands. NUH is the lead treatment centre for EMSS and delivers all surgical interventions for soft tissue sarcoma in the region. NUH works in collaboration with University Hospitals of Leicester and other regional NHS Trusts to deliver care in a managed clinical network. The post-holder will work within an established multi-disciplinary team of surgical, medical and clinical oncologists, histopathologists, radiologists, specialist physiotherapists and clinical nurse specialists. The existing extremity surgical sarcoma team includes three plastic surgeons and two visiting orthopaedic surgeons; the post-holder will work closely with them as part of a team-based approach to patient management providing diagnostics, surgical resections and reconstructions.

Professional Registration and Qualifications

Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration with a current licence to practice.
- BMBS or equivalent MRCS or equivalent

Desirable criteria
- FRCS(Plast) or equivalent Evidence of attendance at relevant conferences and/or training courses

Skills and experience

Essential criteria
- Has completed or close to completing plastic surgery specialist training Declared interest in soft tissue sarcoma surgery

Desirable criteria
- Experience in plastic surgery at senior registrar level with microsurgical experience Experience and understanding of working in the NHS

Management Skills

Essential criteria
- Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, their families and other health professionals Able to delegate appropriately and work within a team

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
