We are looking for two Medical Receptionist to join our friendly busy GP Practice in Parkstone, Poole.
Mon-7.45-1pm, Tues 7.45-12, Wed 7.45-12.30pm, Thurs 12-6.30pm
Mon 7.45-2pm, Tues 12-6.30pm, Wed 7.45-12.
We pride ourselves on providing patient centred care, in a happy working environment, with excellent teamwork throughout the practice.
The Reception Team provides telephone and front of house service. The work is varied and interesting and includes welcoming patients and visitors, understanding and interpreting patient’s needs, resolving queries where possible, booking appointments, as well as a variety of other tasks.
Flexibility to cover annual leave and sickness will also be required.
JOB TITLE: RECEPTIONIST
REPORTS TO: RECEPTION MANAGER/PRACTICE MANAGER
Job summary:
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Job responsibilities:
Administration
- To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
- To work in accordance of written protocols
- Electronic scanning of correspondence
- Entering computer data onto computer as instructed.
Reception
- Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team
- Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
- Be able to cover all reception position as necessary
- Taking and relaying appropriately messages to all members of the Primary Healthcare Team (Doctors, Nurses, Managers etc.)
- Taking messages and requests for home visits. Coding visits.
- Dealing with queries e.g. about services and clinics run by the practice and requests for results of blood tests etc.
- Making calls on behalf of the Doctors as requested
- Receiving fees for non-NHS services on behalf of the Doctors

Appointments
- Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
- Deal with visits/requests
Computer
- Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records
- Process patients changes of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area)
- Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines
Telephone
- Have working knowledge of telephone system
Other Tasks
- Clear rooms after surgeries
- Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm
- Any other tasks allocated by managers
