Overview of an Allocations Officer
Pertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Allocations Officer to join an expanding team. The role of an Allocations officer has a competitive pay rate of £17.03 per hour. Other benefits include excellent training and support for career development and 21 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).
The Main Purpose of an Allocations Officer:

- To allocate void properties in strict accordance with the legislation and the Council’s Allocation Policy.- To be responsible for the successful and speedy letting of empty properties.- To carry out suitability assessments to ensure that allocation of properties meet the housing and support need of clients.- To take ownership of the lettings process and ensure timescales for letting properties are maintained in order to meet void turnaround targets to minimise the lost revenue of rent.- To demonstrate a commitment to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy and the ability to understand and implement the policy in relation to the job responsibilities- To be responsible for identifying areas of improvement that will minimise rent loss by being pro-active in decision making whilst following the Allocations Policy and relevant legislation, thus minimising customer complaints.- To ensure that internal and external partners are given instructions, direction and support in order for them to complete their job / tasks as well as manage Locata.- To liaise closely with our partner Registered Providers (RPs) in relation to nomination requests they send, ensuring the terms of the nomination agreement and the council’s Allocation policy are adhered to at all times.- Must have experience of working with homeless people and those in housing need- Must have experience working knowledge of the Housing Act Part VII and the Council’s allocation and homeless placement policies.- Must have experience awareness of the Homelessness Act (as amended) and Suitability Order in relation to the suitability of allocation and appeals.- Working knowledge of information technology systems relating to the housing register and Choice Based Lettings system and actively contribute to the ongoing development of these systems.- Ability to interview applicants skilfully and sensitively to elicit as much information as possible and give the appropriate advice- To assist in the prompt letting of empty homes by providing information for the LOCATA choice-based lettings scheme as requiredAbout us
