Waukesha Bearings are a leading designer and manufacturer of hydrodynamic fluid film bearings, active magnetic bearing systems and seals for high-performing turbomachinery and rotating equipment in oil & gas, power generation, marine and industrial markets.
Part of Dover Precision Components, we are an integrated provider of performance-critical solutions for rotating and reciprocating machinery.
**ABOUT THE JOB**
The CI Lead will report to the Plant Manager and be accountable for executing Waukesha Bearings’ Lean CI initiatives, which will result in a significant impact to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory and Productivity. (SQDCIP)
**WHAT YOU WILL BRING**
- SME/AME/ASQ/Shingo Prizes, Lean or Six Sigma Certification.
- 3+ years of operations/production experience with demonstrated process improvement experiences.
- 2+ years of experience of leading Kaizen and deploying Lean tools and principles within manufacturing.
- Experience of having led 20+ Kaizen events.
- Working experiences with functional leaders to establish and execute CI roadmap to deliver baseline results.
- Track record of having managed and facilitated change and of having established and executed the CI roadmap to deliver baseline results.
**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
The CI Lead will provide training, expertise and direction for improvement activities to support the business goals and objectives at plant level. They will also work closely with their Lean counterparts throughout the company and with local Departmental Managers, as well as cross-functional teams, in order to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective operational/business solutions for all aspects of the plant.
The role will be to develop and lead our Waukesha Lean/OPEX improvement initiatives across the Glasgow facility.
The incumbent will not only need identity areas to improve but take personal ownership to implement these improvement activities using there strong leadership skills and passion to succeed.
Duties include facilitating Kaizen events within the business, coaching and mentoring the leadership team in Glasgow on CI/Lean/OPEX, coaching the end to end business on identification of waste, implementing the improvements identified and reaching key productivity KPI’s.
Responsibilities of this position fall into four main areas:
**Training**
- Deliver improvement methods and tools for site management and teams. This includes the Waukesha Lean Management System, 5s, visual Management, Kaizen, A3/A4, Problem Solving, Standard Work & Waste Identification.
- Teach problem solving skills to all employees and promote the use of problem solving tools throughout the site and demonstrate the effectiveness of CI through the practical use of problem solving.
- Coach and train Managers in the requirement of the Dover OpEx model.
**Reporting**
- Planning, implementing and tracking local CI Kaizen activity, specifically achieving the targeted business objectives as identified by the Organisation.
- Report KPI’s within the Lean Management System and offer guidance and support on gap closure.
**Communication**
- Communicate monthly productivity and CI results to plant/functional management and corporate CI and OPEX team.
- Communicate Lean CI vision to plant/functional leaders and implement Lean CI strategy at plant/functional/shop floor levels.
**Delivery**
- Develop and co-own CI roadmap to improve flow of material and transaction (targeting lead time reduction).
- Execute CI roadmap within the site. Participate/teach/lead the deployment of design for flow Lean tools.
