Westminster, United Kingdom City of Westminster Council Full time

**About Us**:
**THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM**

Innovation and Change in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. Where people use their vision and commitment to open doors for the next generations.

Nothing beats the feeling of helping someone find their passion. At Westminster City Council, our City Lions team helps young local people engage with culture, creativity and dreams. When they came across a lonely, isolated 16-year-old who called himself a failure, they knew what to do. They worked 1-2-1 to find the thing this boy really loved. YouTube, it turned out. But it’s impossible to turn that into a career, right? Wrong. A week later, he was enrolled on the British Film Institute film-making programme. It was the ultimate light-bulb moment. And it turned him into what he is today - a budding Spielberg with a world of opportunity at his feet.

Please view the extraordinary story of the Impossible Dream **here**.

**The Role**:
As Departmental Lead for Digital within the Creative Services team, you can make your own powerful contribution. Providing specialist expertise to optimise the council’s web and social activities. It’ll be your task to ensure our digital channels and content drive growth and engage with target audiences.

Providing ongoing strategic development for all our digital channels. Leading a team producing audience-led online content and campaigns. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our website content is best in class and the other legal accessibility requirements are met.

Acting as a strategic partner to stakeholders and senior management on all aspects of digital communications, ready to give advice on implementation and evaluation. Innovation will be at the heart of what you do. You will also help build relationships and manage third party suppliers, freelancers and agencies.

You’ll have a wide range of additional responsibilities, from taking lead on self contained digital projects, to maturing the digital function, whilst keeping up to speed with trends in the digital landscape, providing recommendations on exploring new tools and channels. Using all your interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate the team.

Please refer to the **Job Description** for more information.

**About You**:
You will have a well developed understanding of social media integration within wider campaigns, with the ability to offer advice and strategic direction. As well as working knowledge of campaign management, social media planning systems and platforms. With a clear understanding of how to segment and target a diverse range of audiences.

We’ll also expect you to have good experience in management and optimisation of large websites. You won’t be expected to code websites, but you will have a familiarity with a range of content management systems. As stakeholders may come to you with problems that need some technical expertise to diagnose, you should have some understanding of coding and how to query it.

It’s important that you have a comprehensive knowledge of digital project principles, techniques and tools, experience of managing risks and the ability to identify mitigating actions.

Highly committed to inclusion, equity and diversity, you’ll have inspirational interpersonal skills and the ability get the best out of your team.
