The Participation Lead role leads on child and youth participation work, making sure we have the experience of children and young people at the heart of everything we do across the ground-breaking Thames Valley Link Teams. The role supports, inspires and works collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to design ways for the voice of children, young people and parents/carers to be heard and ensure this is acted upon in the development of strategy, policy and service provision.

A key responsibility of the role is to ensure that children and young people are involved in the planning, delivery and review of the service including organisational decision making. This will include designing and delivering a comprehensive, creative and inclusive participation strategy which ensures children and young people are safely supported to participate and lead on LINK work as well as support their own personal development goals.

As part of the participation strategy, the Participation Lead will support colleagues from across the organisation to develop, influence and support participation activities including training for staff who are undertaking participation work with children and young people. This will enable and empower young people to inform, guide and lead on service development work in a safe and meaningful way.

5. Embed a culture of participation at all levels across the programme so that participation is everybody’s business, to include supporting colleagues and teams with the development of participation and influence roles and activities.

6. Undertake outreach activities within communities and lead on the recruitment of children and young people (through a range of promotion and communication methods) and supporting their transition between participation roles and into opportunities outside of the organisation
