We are looking for someone with passion and commitment to EDI you will be working closely with services, managers, staff networks and key stakeholders across the organisation to build on the work already underway to develop and inspire a culture of equality, diversity and inclusiveness..
Working directly to the Head of Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), you will be fully supported and involved in all aspects of EDI. Where you will be able to demonstrate your excellent interpersonal, organisational, and operational skills coupled with experience of delivering agreed outcomes.
This is a 1-year fixed term position, which will provide excellent development and career springboard. (secondments welcome)
Contributing to the Trust’s programme of work; you will provide advice and support to embed EDI action plan, principles, and practice within the Trust, including compliance with its statutory duties and contractual obligations using NHS and other reporting frameworks.

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is a community focused provider of local and acute care, providing high quality services to over one million people living across the London boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley. With a turnover of around £700 million, we provide services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, University Hospital Lewisham and a range of community settings in Lewisham. We also provide some services at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup.
As an organisation, we’ve made significant improvements for patients and staff in the last two and-a-half years. This is reflected in our most recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection (from February 2020), which found improvements across the organisation and gave us an improved rating of “Good” in the Well-Led and Effective domains, in addition to the rating of “Good” that we had already achieved in the Caring domain. Our staff culture change programme has been key to the Trust’s improvement journey, as we’ve stabilised our workforce by reducing vacancy rates and improving staff retention. We’ve also significantly increased the representation of minority ethnic leaders across our clinical and corporate teams.
1. Provide advice and support to embed Equality, Diversity & Inclusion principles and practice within the Trust, including compliance with its statutory duties and contractual obligations using NHS and other reporting frameworks such as the Equality Delivery System; Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES); Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) Gender Pay Gap; Medical Workforce Race Equality Standards; (MWRES) etc
2. Contribute to equality and diversity activities ensuring they are delivered in accordance with the Trust wide Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan
3. Lead and coordinate Trust wide events, in relation to setting up and supporting the work of staff networks and other equality forums, including the production of annual events, evaluation, and reporting as required
4. Provide advice and support in other areas of the portfolio of the Associate Director of Organisational Development and Inclusion as required.
5. The post holder contributes across all Workforce & Education functions Trust wide ensuring that operational service obligations are met.
