We are Fairpark Care, a health and social care provider, offering a range of care and support services to individuals with a Learning Disability and other Neurodevelopmental Disorders, including Autism.

We are seeking to recruit two talented individuals to the role of Speech and Language Therapy assistants; persons with the right values, skills and behaviours to work in our residential care homes, Hullah Farm and Beechley House supporting adults with Autism in Wrexham, North Wales.

Job type: Permanent, fulltime, 40 hours a week, (9am to 5pm or dependent on the needs of the service )

You will be trained and supported by the Senior Speech Language Therapist. You will have the opportunity to engage in clinical observations, communication audits, staff training, resource development, understanding and demonstrating Fairpark's 123 system and 1:1 work with our residents. The successful applicants will also have the opportunity to work with the company Directors, managers, external teams, Psychologist, Team leaders and with Fairpark Cares support staff. These positions will be based at Hullah Farm/ Beechley House in Wrexham but you may be required to work at other sites of Fairpark Care as and when required. Our company has a clear training and development plan for the successful applicants who are new to the role of a SALTA and in order to develop and enhance their current knowledge and skills in this position.

To assist the Speech Language Therapist in resident observations, screens and clinical communication audits.

To assist the Speech Language therapist in resource overseeing - visuals, social stories, transition stories etc that are developed by our team.

To co-ordinate and participate in speech therapy feedback meetings with managers.

To actively contribute to the resident reviews at the clinical support team meetings.

To carry out therapy programmes according to the communication strategy for individual resident’s, following the assessment and programme plan by the Speech Language Therapist.

To assist in staff training under the guidance of the Speech Language therapist.

To understand the roles and responsibilities of staff when in the Fairpark 123 system.

To model and demonstrate the Fairpark 123 roles.

To actively participate in the demonstration of the communication system for the resident during transition and admission.

To have an understanding of the 5 Good Communication Standards and to ensure that Fairpark staff teams are adhering to this.

To attend clinical supervision in line with the company’s policy.

To provide support to the Speech and Language therapist through the preparation, photocopying and maintaining of therapy and training materials and managing electronic communication folders.

To participate in Fairpark Care’s annual appraisal system.
