Overview:
A fantastic, new opportunity has arisen to become a homelessness Peer Worker, engaging with clients with the aim of moving them into a more settled lifestyle.
**Responsibilities**:
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual and a friendly face to help support people in leading healthier lives. As part of the Newham Integrated Rough Sleeping Support Service, you’ll help people make a transition in their life. You will provide wraparound support and work with external stakeholders to ensure our clients receive expert advice and support.
- Build positive relationships with clients empowering them to achieve their goals
- Support clients by signposting and advocating for them to access support, being a central person between them and other services
- Engage hard-to-reach clients, and help them navigate services.
- Alongside staff, identify ways to remove barriers and find solutions to help engage rough sleepers.
You will need to record information about your actions, so enjoying a bit of paperwork and attention to detail is important. No two days are the same, we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual and this role may involve working anti-social hours so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key.
**About you**:
- Understand and have a commitment to the principles of equal opportunity and diversity
- Will have lived experience of either homelessness, addiction, mental health and/or physical health.
- Will have good verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work some unsociable hours
- A non-judgmental attitude
