**Temporary Support & Engagement Officer**
**Reference no: Lewisham 0007 2602 / 1**
**Pay rate £18.28 per hour PAYE**
**This opening assignment is for 5-6 months** To support the service areas within Public Realm by suggesting changes to current practices/procedures/policies identified through customer contact (casework, resident satisfaction surveys, and other correspondence). To assist in data entry to satisfy both the Council’s statutory responsibility and internal monitoring. To assist in community engagement initiatives as directed by the Senior Development Officer Key responsibilities:

- To provide efficient and organised support which is responsive to the needs of the department as identified by the Strategic Waste & Environment Manager, using appropriate information technology, including the Councils Customer Relations Management System and iCasework system.
- Respond to written and verbal enquiries from elected members, senior officers and residents. Draft responses to Council Questions and media enquiries, as directed.
- Undertake investigations into complaints made by elected members, residents and outside agencies. Recommend or take all actions necessary to satisfactorily resolve them.
- Identify any issues that need to be addressed or that may have a negative effect on the Council’s reputation.
- Identify issues through casework and resident engagement and liaise with the appropriate service team to achieve a realistic and deliverable outcome.
- Take payments over the telephone from customers paying for services within the commercial and customer services team (garden waste, markets, commercial waste)
- Draft correspondence, reports, publicity and other documents as required, to a high quality standard, ensuring a professional image for all services within the Environment Division.
- To maintain a number of management systems, including waste data flow and performance plus. To Input data onto appropriate databases to ensure the Council meets its statutory requirements.
- Assist on arranging and delivering community engagement events across the department to include, but not limited to educational establishments, voluntary and residents groups.
- Arrange team meetings, and other meetings as appropriate, including booking rooms, preparing agendas, undertaking minute-taking, circulating minutes and ensuring actions are followed-up

- Knowledge of Lewisham and its communities
- Knowledge of office management procedures and systems
- Understanding of the role and functions of local government
- Broad experience of ICT, including Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word to a high standard
- Experience of creating, managing and using excel databases
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Ability to work in a team and combine personal effectiveness with contributing to the delivery of the team
