About us:
The post will be within the Psychology Department in King’s College London. This is one of the world’s largest grouping of psychologists undertaking research and education in the areas of clinical and health psychology. There is access to a continuous programme of seminars, journal clubs and guest lectures as well as wider development opportunities.

About the role:
The post holder will receive training in the therapeutic approaches and regular expert clinical supervision. The post will be based at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience (IoPPN), Denmark Hill, South London. However, the role will involve undertaking work across secondary schools in Greater London and will, therefore, involve travel to these schools.

There are two positions available. One is a full-time post, the other a part-time post at 80% FTE. Both will be offered on fixed term contracts for 9 months.

About you:
Essential criteria

1. Degree in any life science (e.g. psychology, social science, clinical neuroscience, profession allied to medicine) at least at 2.i level or higher.

2. Experience working with young people.

3. Experience assessing risk and working with psychological interventions/therapies.

4. Ability to show attention to detail and high standards of accuracy in all aspects of work.

5. Excellent interpersonal skills, report and scientific writing skills, ability to deliver information effectively through presentations.

6. Flexible and problem-solving approach to work.

7. Understanding the importance of confidentiality in management of participant data, awareness of ethics & data protection systems.

8. Able to demonstrate clear attention to detail and an organised approach to recording, storing & managing data acquired.

9. Willingness to travel to schools, form relationships with those schools and work within the constraints of schools, e.g. school terms.

10. Excellent IT skills in the following areas:

- Word processing - document format using headings and styles
- Spreadsheets
- producing multi-sheet tables, graphs, sorting and filtering in Excel
- Communication software - MS Outlook
- Use of stats packages such as SPSS

Desirable criteria

1. A Master’s degree in psychology, or mental health, or clinical neuroscience.

2. Formal training in interventions for mental health difficulties (e.g. Postgraduate Diploma in Evidence-based Low-intensity Psychological Treatments) and/or attendance at specialist courses on psychological interventions.

3. Experience of recruiting participants to research studies.

4. Experience administering psychological assessments.

5. Experience working with schools.
