**Accounts assistant responsibilities**

**Purchase ledger**
- Processing purchase invoices and credit notes
- Setting up new supplier accounts and job costing codes
- Maintaining unpaid invoice files
- Preparing payments through online banking software
- Posting payments to accounting system
- Chasing for VAT invoices from suppliers
- Regular reconciliation of purchase ledger accounts and maintaining good relationships with suppliers

**Sales Ledger**
- Posting sales invoices and credit notes
- Setting up new supplier accounts
- Posting receipts
- Collecting credit card payments
- Maintaining client trust account balance as required
- Regular reconciliation of sales ledger accounts

**Other duties**
- Bank reconciliations
- Petty cash reconciliations
- Credit card reconciliations
- Intercompany reconciliations for overseas offices

**Skills and experience required**
- Accounting software used is Exchequer Enterprise and prior knowledge of this software is desirable but is not essential as training will be provided.
- A good working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook.
- Previous experience in an accounts assistant position.
- Experience of working with multiple currencies would be beneficial.
