Middlesbrough, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

We’re looking for a Project Officer to join our team at Ormesby Hall.

Please note, you may be required to work weekends in order to engage, support and direct our staff and volunteer teams.

What it's like to work here:Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll be a member of the property management team and 'Ormesby Emerge' project team. 'Ormesby Emerge' is a plan to reimagine what Ormesby Hall can be in the 21st century and how it can be an important part of the regeneration of Teeside and an inspiration for its next generation.

You will be supported by and will hold the property relationships with the Regional Conservator, Cultural Heritage Curator and the central collections teams and specialists.

You will be based at Ormesby Hall a classic georgian mansion surrounded by a colourful Victorian garden and 240 acres of parkland and farmland in the heart of Middlesborough.

What you'll be doing:In order to make decisions regarding the future of Ormesby Hall, it is important to understand the collections and the stories that they hold. At this point in Ormesby's history we need to better understand what is in the collection and its significance in respect of the story, provide better care for these items and potentially find new homes for those items which have been brought in over the last 60 years.

You’ll be instrumental in making this happen, ensuring that our collection is better understood and cared for, and that the stories are better told with appropriate use of the collection and that the people of Teesside will find relevance in Ormesby Hall and its stories.

As Project Officer, you will develop the project plan and manage the project to deliver a full inventory of the collections. This is a hands on project role where you will be in the detail of the collections at Ormesby.

You will assess the resources required to deliver the project and be proactive in sourcing individual areas of specialist advice as needed by the project.

You will work alongside operational management and the House and Collections team (staff and volunteers), sharing your knowledge of the collection and its history to enhance conservation presentation and interpretation standards. You may also be involved in recruiting and supporting volunteers to deliver the project outcomes.

Who we're looking forWe'd love to hear from you, if you have:

- Relevant knowledge, experience and / or qualification in collections management and care, and conservation management
- Experience in undertaking academic research in one of the following areas: history, social history, art history
- Experience of delivering a project within timescales
- Ability to harness the power of a team and be a strong people leader
