The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the innovative Psychological Therapies Training and Research Clinic delivering 1:1 face to face Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to students within the Clinic.

Opportunities to develop leadership and expertise in an area of interest, to further develop clinical skills and contribute to the psychological professions programmes through supervision of trainees within the School of Psychology.

This is a part time open ended role at 60% FTE

Key Accountabilities
To undertake psychological assessment of referrals from the Student Health and Wellbeing Service to determine suitability for a course of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in a University-run psychological therapies clinic
Provide 1:1 face to face Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to students presenting with common anxiety and depression presentations
Clinical supervision of trainee CBT therapists and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology trainees who are developing competence in CBT skills
Attend regular clinical supervision
Attend team meetings, and willing to take a lead within the Clinic in an area to be agreed, such as CPD; placement training experience; educational experience of students
Support the development and conduct of service-based research and research projects. For example, by contributing ideas for projects, supervising students undertaking service-based research projects, assisting with recruitment to ongoing research projects involving clinic attenders

The Person

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Clinical experience of conducting clinical assessments, risk assessments, planning and delivering CBT or 1:1 therapy
Demonstrable commitment to evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence, including a commitment to the use of routine outcome measures in clinical practice and other practice-based metrics
Proven ability to use initiative and to adopt a creative approach to problem solving
Proficient in use of electronic record-keeping systems (e.g. IAPTus)
Thorough knowledge and awareness of legislation on the Health and Safety of students and Child Protection issues
Desirable
Clinical experience working with older adolescents or young adults
Experience supervising the clinical practice of others, or supervising trainee CBT therapists or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology trainees

Attributes & Behaviours
Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure and to meet multiple deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective rapport with individual clients and working relationships with a range of staff. Works well within and across teams
Ability and willingness to work in emotionally-charged situations and to support those with high levels of distress
Willingness and availability to work unsocial hours (evenings); occasional travel in the UK and/or overseas sometimes requiring overnight stays
Ability to receive Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service

**Qualifications**:
Relevant qualification as a practitioner psychologist or CBT therapist such as a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or postgraduate Diploma in CBT
If a practitioner psychologist current Health and Care Professions Council registration
Desirable
Accreditation or accreditable with the BABCP
