Oxford, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time

The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and professional individual to lead the small team that supports the Vice-Chancellor in all aspects of her work.

This new and exciting role will report to, and work closely with the Vice-Chancellor. The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the University, and her office is high-profile and public-facing, handling an exceptionally wide range of business, much of which is confidential and/or of a time-sensitive nature. You will be working in a dynamic, fast-paced office, and have a key role to play in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day business.

**What We Offer**

As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:

- An excellent contributory pension scheme
- 38 days annual leave
- A comprehensive range of childcare services
- Family leave schemes
- Cycle loan scheme
- Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans

The University also runs an enormous amount of social groups and sports clubs for those looking for more than just a great place to work.

**About the Role**

You will manage the VC’s office team, acting as secretary for executive-level internal meetings, liaising closely with senior internal colleagues and external stakeholders, and preparing full briefings for the Vice-Chancellor as required. You will act as co-Head of Admin and Finance for the VC & Registrar’s Department, with an exact division of responsibilities to be agreed on by appointment.

You will engage with a broad range of internal stakeholders and external partners, with responsibility for researching, identifying and presenting well-formed ideas to the VC about issues of significance.

**About you**

You will be comfortable working independently and leading a small team. You will be proficient in analysing strategic, financial and other complex sets of data, and be able to contribute to the preparation of speeches and other documents.

You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as highly-developed administrative and interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude. You will be experienced in stakeholder management and engagement, and the ability to influence with discretion is essential.

You will be an advocate of inclusive behaviour, demonstrable agility and flexibility of thought, and the ability to see the bigger picture without losing sight of all-important details is also critical to success.

**Application Process**

In your supporting statement please address each point in the selection criteria and demonstrate how you meet the criteria or would do so after a period of training.

The closing date is 12 noon on Friday 28 April with interviews anticipated to be in the week beginning 9 May.
