This is a role that we rarely recruit to and is therefore important that the right person joins us, as you will be required to provide guidance and governance to the senior leadership team.

Experience of working in a similar role, or at a senior level in a skill set related to ELFS is essential.

We are looking for an individual to join us, who can effectively engage with a range of colleagues both internally and externally, who can analyse and problem solve highly complex issues and who can think strategically whilst exercising sound judgement in the face of conflicting pressures and deadlines.

The role of the independent member is to provide guidance and governance for ELFS Managing Director and Operations Director.

The role requires key relationships to be maintained with ELFS Managing Director, ELFS Operations Director, ELFS Staff and other Board Members.

ELFS is a business division of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We work in partnership with our clients building strong working relationships and put our customers at the heart of what we do.

Established in 2002, ELFS is a proven NHS owned Shared Service solution providing Financial and Payroll services to thirty-four NHS organisations and one CIC throughout the country from its Head Office based in Darwen, Lancashire with a satellite unit based at St James House in Salford.

As this is an advisory role, there is no expectation to work in the office full time.

To participate in ELFS Board meetings

Provide support and guidance to ELFS Managing Director and Operations Director as requested

Provide governance to ensure that ELFS is being run effectively

To be fully aware of and committed to all policies, procedures and initiatives relating to information governance - this will include, but not limited to, data quality improvements, confidentiality and information security.

Be a positive ambassador for the organisation

Support the aims of ELFS

Be compliant with ELFS Board decisions, Trust Standing Financial Instructions, GDPR, Health & Safety
