- Job description 1- This is an exciting time to join our fantastic Fens 2100+ Team where our work makes a difference. We are at the forefront of managing flood risk in the Fens, and require high quality, reliable data to allow long term strategic decisions to be made. The data we collect shapes the decisions and operations of the Environment Agency and is in ever increasing demand as our monitoring network expands.
As part of the Fens 2100+ team, based in Brampton (Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire), this role will involve leading on the delivery of a feasibility report, to improve the current Fens gauging network. This work includes both the enhancement of existing gauges, and the provision of new.
This is an exciting time as the Environment Agency moves towards a rollout of one national telemetry system. You will shape the network, help drive innovation and build links with our internal and external partners.
You will work within the Fens 2100+ team, but alongside the Hydrometry & Telemetry Team within the Agency.

- The team 1- The Fens 2100 Team is a major projects team sitting across East Anglia and Lincolnshire, sitting within the Environment Agency.
The Fens 2100 Team are fun, friendly, highly motivated, committed, and inclusive. They give advice, build partnerships, innovate and are central to the future of flood risk management in the Fens. There will be lots of opportunities to learn new skills and work across the beautiful areas in the Fens.
- Experience/skills required 1- We are seeking someone with a positive attitude, who is dynamic and good at problem solving.
You will have the Hydrometry and Telemetry skills and experience to produce a thorough and detailed feasibility report, helping drive improvements to the gauging system. This role would suit someone with a knowledge of the Fens catchment and its gauging system.
A full UK Driving Licence is essential. The role is based in Brampton, and there will be frequent travel across the Fens to access remote field sites in all weathers.
Everyone starting in a new role with the Environment Agency will be welcomed into the team and given all the training and support needed. As part of your comprehensive induction, you'll be provided with all the equipment required for your role.
