You will work under the guidance of the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) Investigation Team and the Archivist, to undertake cataloguing, file preparation and sensitivity review processes of Hillsborough records for the Public Records Act.

- Work to the investigation timetable and guidance issued by the IOPC.
- To ensure the IOPC generated records relating to the Hillsborough Investigation are catalogued following IOPC cataloguing procedures, according to ISAD(G) standards and the National Archives standards under the Public Records Act, and checking and developing catalogue entries as required.
- To ensure a wide range of stakeholders can easily navigate the IOPC generated archives by developing detailed indexes and descriptions, and contextual information with the use of Plain English.
- To assist the Archivist in identifying records for permanent preservation under the Public Records Act.
- To prepare digital and physical records for transfer to The National Archives.
- To undertake a sensitivity review of digital and physical records following IOPC processes before transfer to The National Archives.
- To ensure the preservation of digital and physical materials, and to advise on preservation and digitisation where appropriate.
- To ensure at all times that information contained within the collections is managed lawfully under the terms of the Data Protection 2018 and Freedom of Information Acts. To safeguard information and ensure it is not released unlawfully or restricted unnecessarily.
- To work cooperatively, communicate and consult with appropriate colleagues within the IOPC investigations directorate in order to maintain effective working relationships.
- To work cooperatively, communicate and consult with external stakeholders, including the National Archives.
- All duties and responsibilities should be carried out in accordance with agreed IOPC policies and procedures.
- Any other relevant duties appropriate to the grade as may be required.

**Essential**
- Extensive experience and understanding in archive cataloguing including developing catalogues, and archive cataloguing standards and principles (ISAD[G])
- Experience and knowledge of ensuring records are appropriately preserved
- Experience of using retention schedules, and selecting material for permanent preservation
- Experience of working with information within a Data Protection and Freedom of Information environment
- Experience of working with discretion, confidentiality and sensitivity
- Experience of working to tight deadlines and adjusting working practices accordingly
- Excellent ICT skills, including in MS Office
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and procedures in relation to collections management

**Desirable**
- Experience of working in an investigation and inquiry
- Experience of DROID
- Experience of undertaking sensitivity reviews
- Experience of working with digital records
- Experience of working towards Public Records Act Compliance

**Technical (Desirable)**
- Postgraduate qualification in Archives and Record Management
