**Responsible for**:
Individual caseload management of individuals and small, identified groups

**Role summary**

The focus of this role is to work on the social and emotional aspects of learning.
Work will be based on 1:1 individual mentoring or small, selective, identified group work which is a complementary service offered to schools

Work will be largely of a pastoral nature and be defined by developing and building social interactions, improving cooperative playing skills and raising self-esteem and confidence. The ethos and goals of the organisation include enabling and establishing behavioural change and improving each young person’s attitude to learning and education._

We will look to positively engage excluded young people, those at risk of exclusion, and those awaiting SEN placements, by providing 1-1 interactions in a positive, nurturing and supportive manner.

**Key duties & responsibilities**

**young **individual and their specific need the post holder will be

▪ Identify the specific interests and likes and dislikes of individual mentees from which, together, you will draw up an action plan or ‘journey’ for each young person

▪ Challenge and motivate pupils to promote and reinforce self-esteem

▪ Provide information and advice to enable pupils to make choices about their own learning/ behaviour/aspirations

▪ Ensure that individual action plans and targeted intervention are reviewed ensuring its relevant to the individual interests and needs and ensure that all action plans are coherent with other plans produced by management, staff colleagues and other agencies

▪ Take a lead role in the development and implementation of appropriate behaviour management strategies

▪ To plan sessions for young people and write reports based on their monitoring and performance

▪ Maintain regular contact with families and school/referring agency to keep them informed of the progress and to secure positive family/ school support and involvement

▪ Comply with all the requirements of health and safety legislation including Risk Assessment

▪ Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection and other LEA policies taking appropriate action where necessary

**organisation** personal notes and CPOMS o You must always promote and safeguard the welfare of vulnerable young people for which you are responsible o Provide objective and accurate feedback reports as required to other staff on individual achievement, progress and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence o To make recommendations to the manager regarding service users with complex support needs o To maintain an ongoing caseload of service users, keeping up to date written records of meetings and follow up on non-attendance or other areas of concern o Understanding of issues related to the barriers to learning that some pupils face o Full working knowledge of relevant polices/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation o Undertake an induction period o Share best practice with colleagues o Undertake a time of reflection and supervision with a member of SLT o Attend staff training and team meetings as dictated by

SLT o Attend compliancy training as necessary o Undertake enhanced DBS check
