**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**

The postholder will operate from Riverside House First response Team and will have the skills. and experience to work with children and their families that are in crisis. The work will be high level support to deescalate the crisis, formulate a plan working with the wider family network. and create some stability and calm within the family. The team is trying to prevent family. breakdown, emergency and inappropriate entry into care and provide the level of support at the right time for the whole family.

**Children’s Family Support Worker in Rotherham will**:
Work as part of a small team, under direction of the social care Team Manager and Advanced Practitioner.

Provide immediate support within the family home, able to observe familial networks, provide rigorous analysis of the issues impacting on the family and identify swift support mechanisms.

Work alongside the child and family to de-escalate and stabilise the child and family so that the child can remain at home.

Offer scrutiny to the plan and co-deliver with the Social Worker against that plan, working with the family, and the extended network is a must.

Provide timely, responsive, and practical support to children and families, such as accompanying to attend medical appointments, school meetings and other tasks associated with ensuring positive outcomes for the child.

Support to all family members during key times of tension, including mealtimes, night/morning routines and weekends.

Coordinate and attend Family Network Meetings

Secure engagement with appropriate parenting programmes for the family which are flexible, family-focused and develop positive parenting skills.

Convene and chair a “Rapid” Family Network Meetings and supporting ongoing referrals to Family Group Conferencing

Engaging the young person/people in pro-social activities at key times of stress and support to access partner delivery to meet this need.

Develop a cohesive intervention that is time limited and offers a collaborative, warm handover.
