**Temporary Young Person's Advisor**

**Pay rate £16.35 per hour PAYE**
**This opening assignment is for 2-3 months**
**Enhanced DBS disclosure required** To work with young people aged 18 to 21 (24 if in Education), looked after by the authority who are placed in various settings and accommodation. To act as “personal advisor”, preparing and supporting young people towards independence enabling a positive transition and provision of after care support as appropriate Key responsibilities:

- To provide advice (including practical advice) and support to young people in receipt of a leaving care service.
- To participate in the assessment and the preparation of the pathway plans and any other reviews and planning meetings as necessary for young people.
- To participate in the reviews of the pathway plans
- To liaise with the responsible authority in the implementation of the pathway plan.
- To co-ordinate the provision of services and to take reasonable steps to ensure that the young person makes use of such services and that they are appropriate to the young person’s needs.
- To remain informed about the relevant young person’s or former relevant young person’s progress and wellbeing.
- To keep written records of contacts with and of services provided to, the relevant or former relevant young person.
- To liaise with other agencies, such as housing, education, benefits agency, health as may be appropriate for the young person.
- To develop, support, review and offer advice to Supportive Lodgings Providers.
- To establish packages of training / support for groups of young people and providers

- A relevant practice qualification in childcare, education, health or social care, e.g. NVQ 3 or equivalent
- Knowledge of relevant theories and practice in order to support families to break negative cycles and improve healthy lifestyles and outcome
- A full understanding of current issues facing parents and children, particularly where there are issues of safeguarding
- Experience of working with children and families from a variety of backgrounds and developing and delivering effective provision in either the public or voluntary sector
- Experience of working with families on practical parenting tasks and delivering parenting programmes
- Ability to manage and structure time effectively and efficiently
- Ability to make use of management systems including IT in recording, retrieval and analysis of information
