Main Purpose: To support individual students with their specific educational requirements in order to enable them to achieve their academic goals, including students resitting GCSE/functional skills English and maths. To provide specific support as directed to a curriculum or pastoral area depending on the needs of KTA at any given time.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

- Assist, advise and provide support for individual students, as appropriate.
- Work within the study support team for the support of students resitting GCSE/Functional skills English and maths.
- Provide regular one-to-one support for students to monitor progress and outcomes.
- Assist assigned students with integration into KTA’s community and environment.
- Select, adapt and devise materials for use with assigned students.
- Utilise available resources within KTA (books, manuals, computer equipment, etc) in order to assist the student with their education.
- Assist students to use equipment/resources effectively.
- Maintain a learning environment in which the student can work effectively.
- Provide additional assistance, as part of the Support Staff, in other areas of KTA further to liaison with your line manager.

Skills/qualifications:

- Experience of teaching/delivering in learning support areas.
- Previous experience of supporting GCSE English and maths
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to relate to staff at all levels
- The ability to encourage and motivate people
- Organisational skills and the ability to plan ahead and manage your time
- Presentation skills
- The ability to write reports, keep records, and work within budgets
- Computer skills.
- Enhanced DBS check
