We are looking for an experienced post doctoral veterinary scientist with extensive experience working in Africa to design, manage and analyses clinical livestock research projects as part of the Centre for Livestock Genetics and Health (CTLGH).

**The Opportunity**:
This is an exciting opportunity for a quantitatively literate veterinarian to join the Epidemiology, Economics and Risk Assessment (EERA) group at the Roslin Institute (UK) and be part of an energetic and dynamic research multidisciplinary grouping of researchers working on a range of infectious disease problems in Europe and Africa. The post is funded by a BMGF award to the CTLGH to work on syndromic surveillance, abortion and calf mortality in Kenya in collaboration with colleagues in the SRUC and ILRI.

**Your skills and attributes for success**:

- Veterinary degree with some clinical experience
- Excellent quantitative skills including expert level in use of R software, statistical modelling, mathematical modelling and phylogenetics
- Experience working with livestock and animal keepers in Africa and speak Swahili
- Excellent people management skills of field technicians

**About the Roslin Institute**

The Roslin Institute is a world-leading centre for animal bioscience research and has a distinctive niche within the UK National Institutes of Bioscience, supported strategically by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC). The Institute is home to > 670 people including ~ 65 Group Leaders and Career Track Fellows, other research and support staff, students and visitors and ~90 staff from Scotland’s Rural College. The Institute has a vibrant programme of postgraduate research, with 150 PhD students registered at the time of writing. Research at the Institute is organised across eight research divisions (Translational Bioscience, Functional Genetics, Genome Biology, Quantitative Biology, Epidemiology Virology, Bacteriology, Immunology) and two Institute Strategic Programmes (BBSRC funded from 2023-2028) that integrate many disciplines (Genetics and Traits for Healthy Animals, Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases). It is also home to Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health, primed by investment from the Gates Foundation and Department for International Development, aims to unlock the genetic potential of farmed animals by dissecting genotype-by-environment interactions to sustainably improve animal productivity in low
