Head of Nutrition and Dietetics

In addition to working in line with the Trust values of kindness, respect, ambition and collaboration, the post holder will:
- provide professional leadership across the integrated healthcare system.
- represent the profession internally and externally as required.
- be professionally accountable for service provision.
- manage inpatient, outpatient and community Nutrition and Dietetic Services ensuring the robust clinical management of specialties within the service.
- be responsible for the long term strategic planning and development of the Service to meet System and National Requirements.
- manage the departmental budget(s) ensuring resources are deployed effectively and financial targets are met.
- ensure the System has a high quality integrated Professional service that is flexible and able to meet the clinical needs of the population it serves within the resources available.
- manage dietetic professionals employed within MDTs across the Care Groups
- carry a clinical caseload in an area that best suits the needs of the System, Service and the post holder.
- To provide leadership to the professional staff group within the System ensuring that professional standards are set, implemented, monitored and maintained.
- To manage the service specific staff within Therapy Services
- To represent The Profession within the System and externally participating in professional and multi
- agency forums
- To work closely with the ADAHP to develop an environment of flexibility and interdisciplinary co-operation l
- To provide professional advice to Clinical Care Groups and Partnership Organisations
- To take a lead role in workforce planning and career structure design for the profession
- To ensure that the service is provided within designated budget, identifying and delivering efficiency measures
- To oversee the education of the professions’ students, co-ordinating practice placements and liaising with University and Colleges
- To be responsible for own continued professional development and ensure there is a comprehensive training programme within the service that meets the development needs of all staff.
