The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Heads of Service/Service Directors and Business Managers to support them to fill their medical vacancies. This will involve being bold and brave, encouraging Medical Leaders to make filling medical vacancies substantively a priority, ensuring any delays in recruitment are kept to a minimum and encouraging them to consider alternative roles where appropriate therefore harnessing every opportunity to recruit to medical vacancies in a timely way.

The post holder must be aware of all medical vacancies across the Trust, support the development of plans to fill the vacancies in conjunction with the specialties, providing advice, support and guidance where recruitment KPI’s are not being met which may involve having difficult conversations.

To support further utilisation of TRAC, ESR, NHS jobs and other recruitment related IT systems and ensure they are used to their full potential. Looking for opportunities to enhance and streamline current recruitment processes where possible.

Support the development of new roles, recruitment initiatives and campaigns to support the Trust in attracting and recruiting high quality applicants.

Manage the recruitment process for consultants, ensuring that any training for new panel members is provided and the process is regularly reviewed to maximise opportunities to recruit consultant colleagues.

Maintain good communication and working relationships with all service users.

Work closely with recruitment team colleagues ensuring that all medical recruitment is being done in a timely way. Supporting colleagues where they are encountering difficulties.

1. To be a key member of the Medical Workforce team, attending meetings as required relating to Medical Workforce matters. Developing systems, processes and procedures relating to medical staff recruitment, implementing the systems and processes, providing advice and guidance as necessary to Medical Managers and Medical staff.
2. To manage all recruitment processes for medical staff ensuring they are undertaken in a timely manner, meet the Trusts’ needs, provide advice, support and guidance as appropriate. Challenge where recruitment KPI’s are not being met considering solutions and escalating as necessary.
3. Have a good understanding of Medical and Dental terms and conditions of employment and Trust HR policies and procedures, particularly those relating to recruitment, provide advice to Medical Managers and Medical staff as required,
4. Support the development and implementation of alternative roles, where considered appropriate, working closely with the People Partners, Divisional Clinical Chairs, Service Directors and Heads of Service.
5. Support the recruitment to the Clinical Fellow programme, working closely with the Clinical Fellow programme Director and the Heads of Service, members of the Medical Workforce team, the recruitment team, ensuring that we have the right number of clinical fellows in the right place at the right time, providing key KPI data relating to the programme for the Medical Transformation meeting as required
6. Benchmark the Trust recruitment processes, systems and offer for Medical Staff with those of other Trusts making any recommendations for changes to Trust processes as considered appropriate.
7. To support further utilisation of TRAC, ESR, NHS jobs and other IT systems related to recruitment and ensure they are used to their full potential from a recruitment perspective.
9. Regularly review the central list of Trainees that are due to CCT within 3 years and ensure those lists are provided to specialties and that the specialty team maintains contact with those trainees.
11. Liaise with external agencies to support the recruitment of Medical Staff, they would include the GMC, representatives from the BMJ, recruitment agencies, HEE (EM) etc
